In 1986, Russ Heissner came to Boston to be the first head brewer at Harpoon. In 2016, a new brewing adventure began in Weymouth, MA.
The BHZ team brews small-batch, barrel-aged beer that’s created collaboratively with an ever-changing roster of innovative brewers. Our philosophy, however, never varies. We believe the best beer comes from exceptional ideas & ingredients–and is guided by rigorous technique.
Our pilot plant is in constant motion. We tap a new Pilot Pour weekly, which means you’ll find 10 to 12 amazing brews in our tasting room. Always something new. We also brew beer for draft & bottles.

TOWNIE TAKES MANHATTAN | Irish Ale 2-mos. Whiskey Barrel Aged 9.8% ABV
Townie spent 2 months in whiskey barrels and then brewer Chris Dion added a boat load of maraschino cherries and bitter orange peel for the last week or so. You get all of Townie's smooth caramel backbone & whiskey charm with a whisper of cherry and bitter orange.
JAVA CITRA | Coffee Blonde Ale 5.1%
Dry hopped with Citra to complement the citrus-y notes of Costa Rican coffee. Crisp note of citrus, chocolate & roasted coffee.
FEED YOUR HEAD | Schwarzbier 6.4%
A beer from Ryan Egan. We used whiskey-barrel staves to smoke our cocoa nibs and added the nibs, along with whiskey-soaked Madagascar vanilla beans, to the fermenter during the brew's final week in the tank. Light body, clean & crisp. Notes of coffee and chocolate with vanilla making everything just so. Good, balanced bitterness.
B.R.R. | Belgian Red Rye Pale Ale 5.5%
This hazy, amber Belgian is the perfect cure for the winter blahs. We kettle-hopped with Warrior & Belma. Dry-hopped with Belma & Grüngeist. Dry-spiced with orange peel & coriander. Endless waves of flavor.
TOWNIE | Irish Ale
1-mos. Whiskey 7.6%
This big red ale has a strong caramel backbone with restrained bitterness. Kettle-hopped with Apollo & Cascade. Dry-hopped with Cascade & Hallertau. The result is underlying herbal and citrus notes for a well-balanced Irish Ale.
SUNNY & 79º | Ginned Pilsner
6-mos. Tequila barrel aged 6.7%
Traditional pilsner style with a handful of summer's most memorable flavors. Pilsner and Munich malts. Nugget, Pacifica, and Mandarina hops. Plus juniper berry and citrus peel.
BAMBOOZLED BY HOPS | IPA ABV 6.0%
Batch #2 in our rotating-hops IPA series. Dry hopped with Huell Melon, Citra, and Mandarina. Hazy, deep golden color, Batch #2 offers strawberry & melon with even bigger citrus notes for balanced bitterness.
ADELINE || Stout

Deep chocolate notes. Dark roast on the barley for an essential bitterness. Touch of flaked barley smooths. Time in the whiskey barrels gives hint of caramel, oak, and a whisper of whiskey.
