In 1986, Russ Heissner came to Boston to be the first head brewer at Harpoon. In 2016, a new adventure began in Weymouth, MA.
The BHZ team brews small-batch, barrel-aged beer that’s created collaboratively with an ever-changing roster of innovative brewers. Our philosophy, however, never varies. We believe the best beer comes from exceptional ideas & ingredients–and is guided by rigorous technique.
Our pilot plant is in constant motion. We tap a new Pilot Pour weekly, which means you’ll find 10 to 12 amazing brews in our tasting room. Always something new. We also brew beer for draft & bottles.

FIB #2 | Belgian Saison BARREL: Tequila ABV 4.8%
FIB stands for Fermented in Barrel. This second release spent it's time fermenting in a Tequila barrel whose previous occupant was the legendary Sunny & 79º. Aroma of citrus, apples, wine, spice & wood. Undertones of spicy yeast and wine must. Sessionable at 4.8%
(LIMITED) TIKIWEIZEN | American Hefeweizen BARREL: Jamaican Rum ABV 5.1%
Tiki is back. Some soft breadiness from the wheat. As an "American wheat" or "American hefeweizen," Tiki has a crisp yeast profile from the American ale yeast. (With a traditional hefe yeast, you'd find notes of banana and clove.) Instead, Tiki delivers pineapple, rum and a hint of almond.
BAMBOOZLED by HOPS | IPA ABV 7.3%
Latest IPA. Big beer with big hops. Kettle: Warrior, Cascade, Centennial, Mandarina. Dry hop: Pacifica, Cascade, Centennial. Citrus aroma will get your attention straight away. Notes of orange marmalade, pith, and slight herbal tea on palate. Smooth mouthfeel. Clean, bitter bite on finish. IBU 65.
SUNNY & 79º | Ginned Pilsner BARREL: Tequila ABV 6.1% and ITB (In the BUFF) 6.0%
Co-brew with Doug MacNair. Traditional pilsner style with a handful of summer's most memorable flavors. Pilsner and Munich malts. Nugget, Pacifica, and Mandarina hops. Plus juniper berry and citrus peel.
ADELINE | Stout BARREL: American Whiskey ABV 8.8% (available on draft & nitro)
Brewer Chris Webster started creating this recipe in 2008 while in graduate school. Years of work paid off. Deep chocolate notes. Dark roast on the barley for an essential bitterness. Touch of flaked barley smooths. Time in the whiskey barrels gives hint of caramel, oak, and just a whisper of whiskey.
RR#23 | Red Rye Aye BARRELS: 1-Mos Rum ABV 10.2%
A big, unapologetic beer that’s as smooth as they come. Co-brewer Scott Hutchinson. Rye and Crystal Malt set forth sweetness, while a zing of Mandarina Hops keeps things balanced.
JAMAICAN SHANDY ABV 5.2%
RR#23| rum-barrel aged meets ginger beer. Spoiler alert: it's a happy ending!

ERNESTO | Maibock BARREL: 3-Mos Aged Tequila ABV 8.2%
First introduced to the world as Ernie at the Beer Advocate's Microbrew Invitational, this maibock has aged 3 months in tequila barrels. Now Ernie prefers to be known as Ernesto. Ernesto is full bodied. Aroma of dried fruit. Bread-y with prominent notes of raisin, oak and tequila.

Looking for a great place to get together with friends|family|co-workers? Our space is quirky so we get creative. A few ideas of what we can do:

- beer tastings for 5-7 people: (4) 5 oz. sample beers & 30 min. Q & A with brewer. Wed/Thurs/Sun
- private use of tap room & patio Mon/Tues.
