In 1986, Russ Heissner came to Boston to be the first head brewer at Harpoon. In 2016, a new brewing adventure began in Weymouth, MA.

The BHZ team brews small-batch, barrel-aged beer that’s created collaboratively with an ever-changing roster of innovative brewers. Our philosophy, however, never varies. We believe the best beer comes from exceptional ideas & ingredients–and is guided by rigorous technique.

Our pilot plant is in constant motion. We tap a new Pilot Pour weekly, which means you’ll find 10 to 12 amazing brews in our tasting room. Always something new. We also brew beer for draft & bottles.

April 5 Release!

An ever-changing series of beers from our pilot plant. Great beers come, stay a while, and then new greats take their place.

As a small-batch brewery, this list is happily subject to constant change. Updated: 4/18/19

Blonde Bomber || Imperial Blonde Ale 9.5%
To quote brewer Chris Dion, "All the coffee-orange-chocolate-vanilla flavors you love in the shot, now packed in a rich monster-pastry beer and aged in rum barrels." Big + beautiful.

Sour Patch FIBs || Saison 6.1%
Fermented in Chardonnay Barrel

Bright, citrusy aroma. Tart, dry, fruit salad of flavors (cherry, lime, lemon, raspberry) thanks to a generous helping of product from the Sour Patch family. We added Sour Patch cereal to the mash and Sour Patch gummies spent their glory days fermenting with brew in the barrel. Slight oak tannins on finish.

S'More Money | S’More Stout 3.9%
Sweet aroma with hints of vanilla + graham cracker. Rich, full body. Hints of coffee roastiness followed by a big wave of chocolate, and then sweet marshmallow, vanilla and graham cracker on finish. Coming in at a very drinkable 3.9% ABV

Coldwater Crisp | Peach Cobbler Pale Ale 4.3%
Coldwater Crisp first came into this world as a taproom Pilot Pour last summer. It's inspired by peach crisp & all its creamy, peachy goodness. Aroma of honeyed granola and sweet malt. Notes of stone fruit and vanilla. Lactose added for luscious, full-bodied character.

Making Waves | Guava Pale Ale ABV 5.3%
Collab with the women of BHZ in honor of the Pink Boot Society, a great group dedicated to women in brewing. A seriously tropical brew thanks to the addition of guava puree and dry hopping with the special Pink Boots hops blend (Loral, Glacier, Mosaic, Simcoe, Sabro) which lends notes of pineapple and coconut.

Day Walker Red | Oatmeal Red Ale 4.7%
Collab with the Stewart Brothers. Aroma of sweet malt + slight nuttiness. Full, creamy body from heaps of flaked, golden naked oats. On palate, caramel sweetness with hints of toast, granola, nuttiness. Balanced bitterness.

100 Stories || Belgian Milkshake IPA 4.3%
New collab with our friend Nate Burkhardt of Empire Wine & Spirits. This sessionable IPA is dry hopped with Jarrylo and Huell Melon. Fruity, slightly herbal aroma. Notes of banana, pear, clove, orange peel, and melon. Full, creamy body.

Sunny & 79º | Pilsner
S79 marries a traditional pilsner style with summer's most memorable flavors. Dry spiced with juniper berry, citrus peel, coriander, and cardamom. Two releases.
ITB (In the Buff) 5.4%
Tequila Barrel Aged 6.8%

Electric Rye || Session Rye Pale Ale 4.3%
Dry hopped with Green Bullet + Cascade. Lots of flavor and sessionable. Aroma of citrus, spicy rye, slightly pine-y. Flavor notes: toasted bread, rye spiciness, and resin + citrus.

Twelve-Z’s || Hoppy Amercian Wheat 4.1%
Chardonnay Barrel Aged

Dry hopped with Amarillo hash and Idaho Gem for punch of grapefruit and undertones of citrus pith, lemongrass, and oak. Nice, dry finish.

Tread Lightly || Barleywine 12.1%
Rye Whiskey Barrel

Notes of caramel, toffee, bread, apple, raisin, dried apricot, spicy rye, and whiskey.

Grove Crush || Berliner Weisse 5%
On the nose: light citrus + mango. On the palette: refreshingly tart, well-balanced match up of mango + grapefruit. Nothing heavy. Everything's chill with this beer.

Fingerpaint || Double Red IPA 8.5%
Collab with BHZ’s own Dan O'Donnell. Big, bold, smooth with a balanced bitter backbone. Hint of caramel. Earthy, dry, spicy complexity from rye. Dry hopped with Centennial for citrus and underlying resin notes.

Grove Crush Radler 4.8%
Sunny & 79º Radler 4.9%
